21 Days of Prayer

We are starting 2019 with a season of prayer at City Life Church.  Over 21 days – starting January 7 and ending January 27 – we will seek God first and put our trust in His power to bring about lasting impact in our lives, our church, and our world.

21 Days Of Prayer Is For YOU!  If you sense God has more for your life, then this is a time to begin believing that God can work in you like never before.  Reach out to Him for the impossible and allow this to be a season where your faith is stretched and his presence impacts every area of your life in a greater way.

Prophetic Meetings!  As a way to close our 21 days we’ve moved our Prophetic Meetings to the last weekend of our of prayer focus. We know that this time will bless us all and build our church as we look to the future with great expectancy! Services will start with worship, and then our special speakers will lead into prophetic ministry time.  Childcare will be provided for all kids Grade 2 and younger during the Prophetic Meetings.

1. Complete Fast

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

2. Soul Fast

This is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life at the conclusion of the fast.

3. Partial Fast

This involved abstaining from eating any type of food for a specific time.  As an example, this could mean fasting one meal or fasting from sunup to sundown.

Prayer & Fasting

During these 21 Days of Prayer, we encourage you to take a next step of including fasting in your prayer time. We believe that Church is community and it can be motivating to participate in something together with other people at the same time. Because of this, we have selected three different fasts on three specific days to do together as a church. Of course, you are welcome to fast however and whenever you feel to do so but why not join together on these days!

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose. It hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. Remember that your personal fast should present a level of challenge but it is important to know what you can handle, your options and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.

  • Monday, January 7, 14, 21 – Soul Fast (Select something that you will remove from your life to focus more on God that day
  • Tuesday, January 8, 15, 22 – Complete Fast (Drink only liquids for the day)
  • Friday, January 11, 18, 25 – Partial Fast (Pick a meal or specific portion of the day to fast)
  • The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

    James 5:16b (NLT)

I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen. When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.
